Here are lists of community-based healers throughout the U.S., taken from a website dedicated to Assata Shakur. The HealMobile is intent on making this list exhaustive, especially for the top 5 regions where there is a high density of people in need. There are African Medicine Women and Men who are collecting the names and modalities of those who are dedicated in their fields. This is a beginning. Coalitions exist in regions that are not centered on holistic health, and I've included some information on those kinds of groups elsewhere on this site. My own teacher, Dr. Llaila O. Afrika, has trained many of the people in the U.S. in African-centered holistic health, condensing centuries of wisdom and decades of study into a system for understanding how we can help each other improve health and grow strong in mind-body-spirit.
