I continue to fine-tune Reiki aspects in the text of my new book, at the same time as the graphic artist finalizes the cover and other artwork. Reiki for me is like a waterfall of spirit, nothing other than refreshing, reviving and healing.
Light on Reiki and Neo-African Mysticismwill write new pages of history, her-story and our-story. The book acknowledges some of my personal experiences. It also shares “Reiki aspects” as the meeting of energy, healing, and spiritual liberation of the oppressed. Relating energy work to spirituality of a group has never been done by other writers.
Reiki is a generic Japanese word that is variously defined as spiritual healing energy and universal life force. There are more meanings, and these first two praise what Reiki does as well as communicate knowledge of who it is for.

REIKI ASPECTS
First, there is the spiritualis-ness of love that Reiki emits, as if UNCONDITIONAL LOVE ITSELF created it. The founder Mikao Usui named and “discovered” it. This is somewhat like Columbus discovering North America. Rei is akin to Re, Ra, Ruh, Ruach and other words praising breath creation, cosmic connection and infinite supremacy.
Spiritual energy healing was already here on earth, but unknown to and un-named by Master Usui. I have love and respect for Master Usui, and this book takes a different approach to his contribution and legacy.
Second, the word healing is dealt with at length in the book. Who owns the notion of healing is the main point. Not many realize their healing from illness and stress is right in their own hands (pun intended).
Third, we note pureenergy means the motion of power. In physics, energy is the capacity for doing work. It may exist in potential (possibility) form, or in kinetic, thermal, electrical, chemical, nuclear or other forms.
Reference books say heat and work are twin aspects of energy,“in the process of transfer from one body to another.” Reiki practitioners are known as energy workers, even if this is redundant.
Fourth, universal means everyone has access. Anyone of any background, upbringing or present life circumstances can give and receive Reiki. What is unusual in my book is the cross-cultural evidence. Reiki, energy work and enlightenment goals are part of African traditional culture and present-day mysticism.
Fifth, life force or The Force permeates everyday speech, especially since the Star Wars movies popularized the term. Decades before that, Jane Fonda popularized yoga and meditation, while the television show “Kung Fu” made that martial art go mainstream. The life force forces life “from one body to another.”
TAKE IT SERIOUSLY
The ki of Reiki, the chi of tai qi quan and qigong, Ki energy of Korea, prana of yogic practice, and other Eastern conceptions are here to stay.
In English, ki is also translated grace within merciful power. Reiki is a loving, healing, graceful, merciful and essential tool from “on high.” How you define that is key to success in applying and receiving Reiki.
Some books say you don’t’t have to believe in Reiki aspects or meaning. I say the opposite. Believe to keep energy healing working in every area of your life. It is a holistic health modality, not a bandaid for a cut. Own the knowing factor.
Reiki is no respecter of persons, like the Creator in many religions. Truth, light, energy is available to all who want them and seek them. Energy work will work wonders for individuals and groups. It has done so and will continue to do so.
