Playlists… for Life

By the time you read this, I will have learned to create a playlist for the YouTube videos that match the HealMobile agenda.

I started keeping playlists after it dawned that my long-term relationship wasn’t working out. Every time I found myself in a funk about what went wrong, the next song I’d hear would fit the vibratory note I was on to perfection, in a way that was scary.

Oh, there were love songs by Al Green, blues songs by Etta James, and much more from my R&B years of growing into my teens, 20s, and 30s. Since the various scraps of paper and diaries naming songs on my list has not been put together yet, I thought I’d take a playlist quiz to see what comes up.

The Free Spirit Playlist

According to this site, mine would be a “free spirit” playlist. I’ve been “placed in this life to accomplish something. You might not always be clear on what that something is, but your passion drives you. To you, music has to be moving, but it’s even better if it raises someone’s consciousness. Your life sets out to open peoples’ eyes, and so do your songs. Here is the link to your playlist on Youtube.” (Go there to get your playlist.)

Although the sheer titles of these songs ring true as notes on the emotional scale of my life, there are so many I don’t recognize. With Covid19 however, I have more than enough time to listen to them and see how they align with where I am now.

For 2017 playlist

But guess what –the list only names songs through 2014. I guess that’s when the article and playlist quiz was created.

The Playlist they created for me:
2014 Royals – Lorde
2013 Same Love – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Mary Lambert
2012 Paradise – Coldplay

1996 Who Will Save Your Soul – Jewel

For more recent years…

… of 2015 though 2019, I’d add —

2019 Toast – Koffee

2017 [I was in Guyana] High Above – India.Arie

2016 [visited Ferguson/St. Louis w/IBSummit] Light It Up – Major Lazer feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG

2015 Release and Let Go – Ricki Byars Beckwith [relationship playlist!]

Of course I can go on and on. I’m still listening to some of the songs I’ve never heard of the playlist the site brought up for me.

My real all-time playlist would have to include James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Crusaders, Spinners, Nina Simone, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Leon Thomas, Al Green, Betty Carter, Miles, Bird, Coltrane and all the soul, R&B and jazz from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Reply with your faves and your playlists, or any comments about what they chose for me above. Have fun and create your day. Contact me via text to chat 201-966-1170.
