2 Questions About Energy Healing
When inwardly directed, qi (chi, energy, life force) can help the body to heal.
Q. Energy healing sounds like a fad. What does it really mean?
A. Energy healing is not an easily accessible subject. It truly means whatever a person takes it to mean, within their inner knowing. Mathematically, Einstein’s equation, E=MC squared, tells us all things are energy-based, even if they seem solid. By extension, all things can be changed or improved upon, or in the case of the body-mind-spirit, healed.
However, if you consider yourself religiously orthodox or super-linear or -rational, and believe healing is only facilitated by the medical and hospital establishment, energy healing is not a concept you will grasp.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, energy as a noun means:
The strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity: ‘changes in the levels of vitamins can affect energy and well-being’
1.1 energies A person’s physical and mental powers: ‘an alternative is to devote your energies to voluntary work’
2. Power derived from the utilization of physical or chemical resources, especially to provide light and heat or to work machines: ‘nuclear energy’
The process of making or becoming sound or healthy again: ‘the gift of healing’
Energy Healing is strength, power and capacity to make healthy and whole through manifestation and process.
Medical equipment that measures the magnetic or electrical field of the body uses the principles of energy healing.
This includes the X-ray and today’s bio-electric or biomagnetic equipment such as biofeedback, ultrasound, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines. Blood pressure equipment that you wrap around your wrist is another example, as are lasers.
The general public accepts these energy healing devices without appreciating their roots in the same fundamentals that energy healers and alternative medicine professionals use in performing their work.
Q. Why should I care about energy healing?
A. Because awareness of it increases your innate ability to heal yourself.
Medical professionals have noted an uptake in patient interest in this subject. People want to know, “Is it just this symptom? Or is it something more going on with me?”
People with health challenges are seeking to avoid invasive procedures, and exploring new approaches as “second opinions.” They want to have above-the-line health and pursue approaches that keep them holistically intact.
The media love sensation, and continue to report on the whether energy healing is fantasy or fact. Just as there is medical fraud, the quackery of shysters is there to reward media cynics.
Meanwhile, the public is sampling energy healing modalities such as acupuncture and acupressure, Reiki, reflexology, meridian tapping, detox machines, meditation, soft martial arts such as tai qi quan and qigong, and essential oils techniques such as aroma yoga and Aroma Freedom Technique.
Every day, more people are becoming involved in energy healing because it works, not (only) because it is fashionable. Self-care begins with paying attention to ways to maintain high-quality holistic health. Energy healing is one such way.
